Rules
- All films must have been created after January 1, 2009.
- All films must be under 30 minutes in length.
- The competition is open to all undergraduate students enrolled at Boston College. Only BC students can be listed on the registration form and receive prizes.
- The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2010.
- All entries must be registered online, and film submissions must be accompanied by printout of the online registration form. There will be no automatic entries made by the film studies or communication departments on behalf of students enrolled in those courses. All students are responsible for filling out the registration form in full and submitting their work by the deadline.
- All entries are automatically considered for Best Picture of the Year, Viewer’s Choice, Critics' Choice Award, Cinematography, Editing, Best Actor, Sound, and Screenwriting. Those submitting a work must self-select on the registration form to be considered for Beginning Film and Video, Advanced Film and Video, Best Work by a Nonmajor, Drama, Documentary, Experimental, and Comedy.
- All entries must be in the MiniDV, DVD, or VHS format.
- Entrants must submit a printout of the completed online registration form with their entry. Entries should be clearly addressed to the “2010 Baldwin Awards,” and delivered by the deadline to either “Devlin Hall 434, Fine Arts Department”; or “Room 513, 21 Campanella Way, Communication Department.”
- Please note: Those who have submitted a work will be notified whether or not their work is nominated in one of the categories. Just because a work is submitted does not mean that it will be screened online, at the festival, or be eligible for Viewer’s Choice; only those films nominated will be screened online, shown at the festival, and be eligible for the Viewer’s Choice award. The nominees for Best Picture will not be announced before the ceremony as Best Picture will be selected by the panel of judges from the nominees in all other categories. Within each category, the people who receive the award depends on their production title; for example, only the editor receives the award for Editing. If you have questions about rules or submission guidelines, please call 617-552-6343 or email thebaldwins@bc.edu.
