The 6th Annual Baldwin Awards

At a red-carpet ceremony on March 26, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. in the Heights Room in Corcoran Commons, the sixth annual Baldwin Awards for excellence in film and video will celebrate student filmmaking at Boston College.

Named for the University's eagle mascot, Baldwin trophies are awarded in 15 categories: Best Picture of the Year, Viewer's Choice Award, Critics' Choice Award, Beginning Film and Video, Advanced Film and Video, Best Work by a Nonmajor, Cinematography, Editing, Best Actor, Sound, Screenwriting, Drama, Documentary, Experimental, and Comedy. All nominated films will be screened on March 10 at 7 p.m. in Devlin Hall 008.

The red-carpet ceremony and Film Festival are free and open to the public. Tickets are not issued; seating is first-come, first-served and is limited at both events.

A panel, composed of fine arts and communication department faculty as well as students, will judge all categories except one: In March, the BC community will be able to view the nominated films and vote for the winner of the Viewer's Choice Award on this Website.

All nominees' films will be screened on the @BC Website, BC Cable, and at the Baldwin Awards Film Festival. Winners receive a unique Baldwin statuette and gift certificates to B&H Photo Video in New York City (a $100 certificate for Best Picture and the Viewer's Choice Award; a $50 certificate in the other categories).
