The 4th Annual Baldwin Awards

This year's nominees

At a red-carpet ceremony on March 28, 2008, at 7:30 p.m., in the Heights Room in Corcoran Commons, the fourth annual Baldwin Awards for excellence in film and video will celebrate student filmmaking at Boston College.

The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2008. The competition is open to all BC undergraduate students. Visit the rules page for submission information.

Named for the University’s eagle mascot, the fourth annual Baldwin Awards will be awarded in 14 categories: Best Picture of the Year, Viewer’s Choice Award, Critics' Choice Award, Beginning Film and Video, Advanced Film and Video, Best Work by a Nonmajor, Cinematography, Editing, Best Actor, Sound, Screenwriting, Drama, Documentary, and Comedy.

All nominees will be screened during the Baldwin Awards Film Festival on an evening in mid-March 2008, to be announced.

The red-carpet ceremony and Film Festival are free and open to the public. Tickets are not issued; seating is first-come, first-served and is limited at both events.

A panel composed of faculty from the fine arts and communication departments, and students, will lead the judging in all of the categories except one: From March 10 to 21, 2008, the BC community will be able to view the nominees and vote for the winner of the Viewer’s Choice award on this Web site.

Prizes for all nominees are an official nominee certificate and screenings on the @BC Web site, BC Cable, and at the Baldwin Awards Film Festival. Winners also receive a unique Baldwin statuette and gift certificates to B&H Photo Video in New York City (a $100 certificate for Best Picture and the Viewer’s Choice Award; a $50 certificate in the other 11 categories). The Best Picture and Viewer’s Choice films will also be screened at the Boston College Arts Festival Free Friday Flicks event in April 2008.
